The Connect Project

The Black Saturday survivors wanted to do something for the victims of the January 2013 bushfire that hit Dunalley the small fishing village on the coast of Tasmania.

Lee McGill, who lost everything in the Black Saturday bushfire, received a gift that touched her heart - knitted slippers. "I was given a pair of hand-knitted slippers and wore them all through winter thinking someone took the time to do this for me."

The Kinglake Ranges Visual and Performing Arts Alliance, formed Connect, a group through which the community houses in Whittlesea, Kinglake, Toolangi and Flowerdale will hold craft workshops to make knitted items, quilts, felt objects and embroidered cushions personal things for the Dunalley community.
